The Gamay grape variety and the granite subsoil offer this wine in its youth its purplish red color which, over time, evolves from dark garnet to deep ruby.

The windmill is a red wine French appellation of controlled origin product riding on the limit between the departments of the Rhône and the Saône-and-Loire.

The appellation covers a part of the communes of Chénas and Romanèche-Thorins, in the vineyards of the Beaujolais. It is one of the ten vintages from this vineyard.
